Our Story

At the Cook Centers for Medical Skin Enhancement™, we offer our patients a selection of advanced, medically based skincare products and treatments, which set a high standard of quality and effectiveness through credentials, experience and commitment.

Our Beginning
The Centers were founded by Dr. John Q. Cook, Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon as part of his commitment to total patient care. Dr. Cook’s plastic surgery practice has a major focus of interest in facial rejuvenation surgery. As Dr. Cook restored facial structure and balance with surgical procedures, patients became increasingly interested in treatments to restore the skin’s tone, luminosity and volume. “Our patients consider us trusted friends,” says Dr. Cook, “so it was only natural that they would ask for advice about the best methods for skin enhancement.”

Because of our origins in plastic surgery, the Centers have an advantage: We are aware of the total range of options available for each of our patients. This means we can identify those circumstances where medical skin therapy will serve a patient’s best interest, but we are also aware of those conditions that will be served best by surgery.

Our Credentials
All of our therapies are researched and approved by Dr. Cook, whose educational and professional credentials demonstrate his commitment to excellence. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. A staff member of Rush University Medical Center, he is also on the faculty of Rush Medical College.  Dr. Cook’s education includes a B.A. from Yale University, M.D., from Northwestern University, and eight years of advanced training at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Our Experience
Dr. Cook has brought together a team of highly experienced medical skincare professionals who share his commitment to excellence. Our clinical team members have an average of 17 years of experience in their primary fields. This combined experience allows us to serve as our patients’ trusted guides: we can help you sort through the range of skin care options to create an individualized therapy program that is right for you.

Our Commitment
In medical skin enhancement, as in any skilled field, there is no overnight expertise. Our path is consistent in its long-term emphasis on a scientific approach to skin therapy. It started 20 years ago when Dr. Cook  devoted a year to research facial implant materials, work that lead to his master’s degree in surgical research. And it continues today with our insistence on a worldwide basis of knowledge. This commitment lets us confidently help patients distinguish between promising therapies and those that may be useless or even harmful.
